Our intensive English course offers the maximum number of Special Interest Lessons (SPINs) as well, which means you'll be able to have a highly customised study programme. Taught both in class and online, you can take SPIN lessons focused on language skills, professional development, exam or university preparation or culture and arts. The EF General English Course is a carefully composed full-time English course for adults designed to help you move up one EF course level every six weeks with proof of your progress. We measure your language skills before your English course begins and after it’s complete with the EFSET suite – which includes a placement test, progress test and graduation test.

EF’s General Course, which is our classic English course for adults, includes 26 morning and/or afternoon lessons taught both in the classroom and iLab – focused on communicating clearly in everyday English. You’ll also have four Special Interest Lessons (SPINs), which let you customise your English course to your particular interests and needs. Examples of SPINs, depending on availability: Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing, Idioms & Slang, Current Affairs, Modern Culture, Global Issues, History & Architecture, Literature, Interview and Resume writing.

The EF Basic Course, which is our summer English course for students and adults, concentrates on understanding and speaking English in practical situations. Our IELTS preparation courses in England will improve your general English skills while preparing you to sit this rigorous exam. IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is accepted as proof of language proficiency for over 9,000 academic, professional and government organisations. It’s required for admissions to universities and student visas in many English-speaking countries. Our IELTS preparation courses in England are eight weeks or longer, but two week courses are available in Cambridge for students with advanced language skills.

Most of our schools in England are authorised exam centres, which means your Cambridge English exam will be administered by EF staff at the EF school where you took your Cambridge exam preparation course to ensure you feel confident and comfortable. Gap year in England

Our gap year in England programmes offer international students maximised English learning with unique personalisation options, challenging academic projects and a wide variety of teaching methods. You’ll gain fluency on a gap year in England with lessons that blend interactive teaching techniques and technology-enhanced learning. You’ll learn both inside and outside the classroom as you combine language study with academic projects.
