EF Advanced Diploma in English for Health & Fitness

Get your English into shape in combination with career-focused studies. You'll earn US university transfer credit and gain valuable skills for an active and healthy future. 

Program Profile:

Secure US university transfer credit for future studies
Take all required Hult-credit courses during your nine-month programme and earn up to 15 university transfer credits. On the six-month program, you'll earn up to 9 transfer credits by completing all the Hult-approved courses.

Study on a university affiliated program
Challenge your English by taking subject courses that are offered at the first-year university level. Benefit from a professional program of study that draws on the distinguished experience of Hult International Business School, which was named by the Financial Times to the list of 100 Top Business Schools in 2011.

Earn an EF Advanced Diploma or Advanced Certificate
The EF Advanced Diploma is awarded to students following a nine-month or eleven-month program.
The EF Advanced Certificate is awarded to students following a six-month program.

    The Health & Fitness program includes five electives and two required courses (see below). Availability may vary.

    General English Studies
    At the basis of every EF Advanced Diploma Program is a solid course of ongoing General English study at the student's individual level of language placement. This course develops students' English proficiency to promote independent communication, confidence, and cirtical thinking. This is a required course.

    Introduction to Hotel & Toursim Studies
    This is a required foundation course for the EF Advanced Diploma Program. It is offered during the first term. Valuable tools will be taught to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for communicating in the world of health & fitness. Lessons will be taught in the context of a long-term health & fitness project and will survey valuable academic, professional and international topics.

    Key Concepts of Health & Fitness
    This required, first-term course provides an overview sports history, theory and practice which includes sports and non-traditional sports. The practical course portion will include an array of sports activities. The academic course portion will focus on sports and performance topics presented in teh course materials and discovered through independent and group research.

    Issues in Health, Fitness and Wellness
    Examining health and wellness from the standpoint of physicall fitness, this course focuses on physical fitness as the most important commitment that one can make to health. How physical fitness infleunces numerous chronic diseases, why this happens and how it can happen for you (or future clients) will be the main focus of this course.

    Communication Strategies
    This course is designed to assist students in becoming competent, confident and independent communicators, through the building of commuincation skills in strategy and critical thinking. In this course students will be developing fluency over a range of language functions, building the ability to be concrete and abstract, as well as to use language in a creative and flexible way.

    Key Medical Concepts for the Fitness Practitioner
    In this introductory course for medical English and medical terminology, students will gain a better understanding of the human body and a general understanding of the specialties within medicin. Projects will focus on common issues for fitness professionals, honing analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Sports Psychology
    This course will provide an introduction to the discipline of sports psychology, surveying the overall field, while providing a solid base for understandng the varying needs of a team versus an individual athlete. Team building, motivation and multicultural issues will be covered, as well as coaching skills, leadership and understanding and identifying different personal traits.

    Placement test
    Before being accepted to the program, you will be required to take an admissions placement test. You will need to test into the Common European Framework for Language Reference (CEFR) Level B2 for the Health & Fitness Program.

    High School Diploma or equivalent
    In order to be eligible for US university transfer credit, you will need to submit a copy of your high school diploma equivalent.
